Bison Trails will support the blockchain protocol of the NEAR network

Bison Trails, the Blockchain „infrastructure as a service“ company, announced its recent support of the NEAR network, which is designed to drive open finance and the open web.

According to the announcement, NEAR’s smart contracting platform focuses on strengthening accessibility and ease of use to support large-scale consumer applications.

NEAR plans to move to a restricted mainnet
Speaking to Cointelegraph, Bison Trails CEO Joe Lallouz said the company has been working closely with NEAR since 2019.

He also noted that this was a good time to make the official announcement, as NEAR plans to move the Proof of Authority (PoA) process to the restricted stage of the mainnet sometime in the summer of 2020.

The film „Bitcoin Billionaires“ will tell the story of how the Winklevoss brothers became billionaires thanks to crypto currencies

The restricted mainnet is one step in the network deployment schedule. NEAR says that opening the network in stages allows them to test it and address certain issues early in the process. The restricted stage will presumably be followed by a community-driven mainnet, whose launch date is yet to be determined.

Token holders within the Bison Trails platform will be able to make use of the nodes after the transition. NEAR will also reward node traders during the restricted stage. Lallouz stated:

„During the restart of their incentivized testnet, we worked with the NEAR team on improving their internal processes and system designs. In particular, we connected them with other experienced protocol teams to learn and adapt their methodologies.

According to Katie Haun of Andreessen, more projects similar to Facebook’s Libra will come in the future

Strengthening the capacity of the network
llia Polosukhin, co-founder of The News Spy, told Cointelegraph that the integration of Bison Trails would help increase the financial security and capacity of the network:

„Over time, NEAR’s goal is to increase the number of validators as network usage increases, and the number of fragments goes up on demand.

As Cointelegraph reported on May 7, Bison Trails extended support for Celo’s open network, which allows smartphone users to send crypts directly to a phone number instead of a blockchain address.
